Rebecca Chow offers Reiki and TRE® sessions within her home setting in South Manchester, UK. Mobile and group bookings can be arranged (please contact for details - email or contact form at footer). Reiki and TRE® can also both be carried out remotely to any location via zoom. 

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy-healing technique developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It is aimed at promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and deep inner healing. Practitioners gently place their hands on or just above a clothed person, aiming to channel "universal life force energy" to help balance the body's energy fields.

What is involved in a session?
Reiki can be carried out in person or remotely. It is non-invasive and relaxing, and typically takes around 60–90 minutes.

What to expect in a session?

A session usually begins with an introductory chat and a grounding exercise. If attending in person, you will remain fully clothed and lie on a massage table, covered with a blanket. The practitioner will place their hands lightly on or just above your body, acting as a conduit for "universal life force energy" to support balance in your body's energy flow and promote relaxation.

Much of the healing may continue after you have left the Reiki session.

What might be felt during a session?
These are some of the possible sensations that may be experienced, though sometimes nothing may be felt at all:

  • Heat or cold: Intense heat is the most common sensation, though some people experience coolness

  • Tingling or pulsing

  • Vibrational buzzing

  • Pressure

  • Emotional release

  • A whooshing sensation

Some practitioners may also receive intuitive or emotional insights during the session that relate to the client’s healing process.

What is TRE®?
TRE® stands for Tension, Stress & Trauma Releasing Exercises. It’s a body-based method designed to help release deep muscular tension and calm the nervous system. It was developed by David Berceli and involves a short series of gentle exercises that intentionally activate the body’s natural shaking (or “tremoring”) response. This shaking is something the body already does instinctively—like when animals shake after stress—to discharge built-up tension.

The idea behind TRE® is that stress, trauma, and long-term pressure can become “stored” in the body, particularly in the muscles and nervous system. By allowing these tremors to happen in a safe, controlled way, the body can release that tension and return to a more relaxed, regulated state.

What can TRE® be used to support?

  • Stress and anxiety reduction

  • Recovery from burnout or chronic fatigue

  • Better sleep

  • Emotional regulation

  • A general sense of calm and wellbeing

What to expect in a session?
A typical TRE® session tends to feel more like allowing your body to unwind rather than “doing” anything. At the start, you’ll be guided through a short series of slow, controlled exercises—similar to light stretching or yoga. These are designed to gently fatigue and activate certain muscle groups, especially in the legs and hips, where a lot of tension is commonly held.

After that, you’ll usually lie down on your back. This is where the key part begins. You’ll be guided to allow natural, involuntary tremors (shaking movements) to emerge in the body. These might start subtly—perhaps as a small vibration in the legs—and then gradually spread.

The sensations can vary from person to person, but commonly people notice:

  • Gentle shaking or trembling, often in the legs or hips

  • Waves of release or a soft sense of muscular letting go

  • Warmth or tingling sensations

  • A sense of heaviness or grounding

  • Emotional shifts (sometimes calm, sometimes unexpected feelings rising and passing)

Importantly, you’re always in control. You can stop or reduce the tremors at any time simply by adjusting your position, so it never has to feel overwhelming.

As the session continues, many people experience a deep sense of relaxation—almost as if the body is “switching off” from stress. By the end, it’s common to feel calmer, lighter, or more settled. Some people feel energised, while others feel as though they’ve had a deeply restorative rest.

Afterwards, there is a short integration period—simply resting, noticing how you feel, and allowing your body to settle. The effects can continue after the session, with improved sleep or a greater sense of ease over the following days.

If you’re new to TRE®, the first session is often about learning how your body responds and building a sense of safety with the process, rather than pushing for a big release.

Having tried various therapies in the past, I was really interested in working with Bec, and I have to say it was one of the most releasing therapy sessions I’ve ever experienced.

Bec explained everything clearly and delivered her guidance with the confidence and competence of someone with many years of experience.
